Weather 10/02/12

The weather today in Eau Claire is bright sunny skies with only about 10% cloud cover there is no precipitation and i can not see any coming due to the cumulus clouds in the sky looks like they don't have much moisture. The wind speed is about 12 mph from the north the temp is around 23degrees. I see more bright skies over the weekend and then an overcast start to next week. the map above is a follow up to yesterdays map about the large cold front moving across America at the moment. The continental polar air mass is pushing this cold front further south and this surface map illustrates this very well I feel.

The second map is one of showing water Vapour in the air there is a large collection of water vapour around the Great Lakes area and there is a high risk of precipitation as we move across that region of the country forecasts are predicting a snowfall to hit this area and i agree with that as there looks like a large accumulation ready to dump its lake effect smow over the area.
This third image shows the wind speed this week in eau Claire there is lots of fluctuation suggesting that the weather has been unpredictable this week. This has been the case as there have been clear days and cloudy days too. there is a near by low pressure system so this may have been contributing to the weather pattern but the wind speed certainly tells the story of varying weather this week in Eau Claire.
This table shows the temp in eau Claire this week also there has been much fluctuation like the wind speed map and i feel this is for similar reasons although there is a cold temperature jet stream that has been moving across the northern part of the country which would explain the lower temperatures we have been having this week. the table shows that temperatures are on the rise again so hopefully that holds true and we get a good weekend for weather.

The map above shows the accumulation that i was discussing with the vapour map in this post. the purple colour indicates snow and ice that will be falling if over most of Illinois, Michigan, Indiana and in very South Easterly Wisconsin. this will be a breaking story over the weekend how hard this region gets hit in what has been a very unusual winter in the Midwest so far.
